Ohio-born Wylie J Miller is a multi-talented performer and motivational speaker whose journey has spanned the globe. Lisa Edwards is renowned for her stage presence and incredible voice, having shared the spotlight with international and Australian acts such as Ray Charles, Stevie Wonder, Olivia Newton-John, Barbra Streisand, Tom Jones, Kylie Minogue, Toto, Natalie Cole, Hall and Oates, Al Green, Cyndi Lauper, Billy Thorpe, Brian Cadd, Russell Morris and Kate Ceberano. She is perhaps best known to Australian audiences as one of John Farnham’s dynamic backing singers.
A singer in her own right, Lisa has released four albums and achieved a Gold record for her hit “Cry.” She has performed at significant events, including opening Docklands Stadium with Barbra Streisand in 2000, and performing with Ray Charles, Kylie Minogue, and Anthony Warlow at the opening of the Crown Casino in 1997 alongside the renowned Farnham Band and John Farnham.
Lisa has also sung in front of Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary of Denmark at the Australian Red Cross Anniversary Gala Dinner and was recently inducted into the South Australian Hall of Fame. Iseula is a Melbourne/Naarm-based singer/songwriter known for her powerful, soulful vocals and an incredible band that draws influence from legends like Stevie Wonder, Etta James, Anderson Paak, and Amy Winehouse. Her music spans soul, neo-soul, blues, and alternative R&B, captivating audiences with truthful songwriting, irresistible grooves, and an engaging stage presence.
With over 10 years in the music industry, Iseula first gained recognition as the frontwoman for the blues/funk band Blue Eyes Cry. Now, she has embarked on a solo journey, releasing original music with her talented band, including Stella Anning (guitar/backing vocals), Charlie Rolfe (keys/synth), Alex Yeop (bass), and David Ulucay (drums). This year, they released the single “Why” and their debut EP I Drink Alone, receiving support from radio and local media.
Rooted in soul, blues, and jazz, Iseula and her band are also celebrated for their “NOLA Special,” a New Orleans-inspired show featuring a repertoire from artists like Jon Cleary, Walter Wolfman Washington, and The Meters.
Madison Edwards-Turner, daughter of Lisa Edwards of the Farnham Band, has music in her blood. Growing up backstage, she found her passion for music early on, recording her own Christmas CD at six and performing with her mother around Melbourne by twelve.
Throughout her schooling, Madison excelled in musical theatre and drama, leading many productions. As she matured, she pursued music as a solo singer and provided backup for artists such as Dennis Walter, the Farnham Band, and the Lisa Edwards Band.
Madison’s journey is marked by her versatility and emotional performances. She continues to build on her successes, dedicated to making her own mark in the music industry while following in her mother’s footsteps. The journey continues for Madison Edwards-Turner, a rising star with a bright future in music.
Tim Neal is a multi-instrumentalist with over 40 years of experience in the music industry. A graduate of the Victorian College of the Arts, Tim has collaborated with celebrated artists and ensembles both within Australia and internationally, including Mavis Staples, Joss Stone, Ricky Lee Jones, Archie Roach, Randy Crawford, Big Jay McNeely, and Renee Geyer.
Tim has been a member of Australia’s longest residency, performing for 33 years at the Rainbow Hotel in Melbourne. His extensive touring schedule has taken him across Australia and the world, playing in venues ranging from pubs and clubs to festivals and concert halls. A recipient of several awards and numerous television and radio appearances, Tim’s music has also been featured in films, documentaries, and theatre productions.
Having discovered Ray Charles’ music on late-night AM radio as a teenager, Tim has been playing it ever since.
Andy is a multi-instrumentalist and producer based in Melbourne. Playing piano since age 5 he began performing on guitar aged 14 and played ‘cello and double bass in orchestras before moving back to keyboards at 19. He moved to Australia from his native New Zealand at age 27 having played with many of that country’s most well respected performers.
That was back in 1980 and since then he has played and toured with some of Australia’s most respected artists including Normie Rowe, Doug Parkinson, Jenny Morris, Digger Revell, Stephen Cummings, Leon Berger, Barry Leef, Erana Clark, Stephen Cummings Russell Morris to name a few. He has also performed in bands or orchestras featuring superstars such as Tom Jones, Thelma Houston, and Eric Burdon.
He has performed for theatre shows including 400 performances of “Hair”, 40 piece “British Rock Symphony” and Wendy Stapleton as “Dusty” He also did a one-year stint 6 nights a week in the “Tonight Live” TV show band on hammond organ and guitar.
Andy began producing and recording in the early seventies in New Zealand and now divides his time between composing, recording and performing in an eclectic range of genres from blues to jazz to rock to funk and reggae.
Rod Gilbert has been a renowned drummer and singer on the Australian jazz circuit since co-founding the premier swing band The Shuffle Club in 1999. Performing live since the age of 16, he is now one of Australia’s most talented drummers and sought-after frontmen. Critics compare his drumming style to Art Blakey, Max Roach, and Ed Thigpen, and his smooth warm tones to Sinatra and Bobby Darin.
Rod has performed at jazz, arts, and cabaret festivals across Australia, Japan, and the UK, earning five-star reviews. He regularly tours with The Famous Spiegeltent, Bob Downe, and the award-winning show La Clique, and performs with The Syncopators throughout Europe, as well as with local bands like Horns Of Leroy and The Sugarfoot Ramblers.
As a producer, Rod has presented shows such as The Bobby Darin Story, A Fine Romance, and The Songs of Oh Brother, Where Art Thou. He has collaborated with artists including Gil Askey, Debra Byrne, and international talents like Nina Ferro and Warren Vache. Rod exclusively plays Gretsch drums, a testament to his impeccable taste.
Aaron Searle is a jazz musician and composer based in Melbourne, Australia, known for his skill on the saxophone, flute, and clarinet. He has released three solo albums, with a fourth album set to be released in late 2024. Aaron has performed across Australia, Europe, and the USA, and is highly sought after as a session musician and arranger.
Carlo Barbaro is a seasoned saxophonist and woodwind artist from Melbourne, Australia, with over 25 years of professional experience. He has collaborated with a wide range of renowned musicians, including Harry Connick Jr., Maceo Parker, Paul Kelly, and The Cat Empire. Carlo has toured extensively, both nationally and internationally, and performed at leading music festivals worldwide.
From 2002 to 2007, Carlo was a member of The Empire Horns with The Cat Empire. Recently, he has appeared in critically acclaimed theatre productions such as The Book of Mormon, The Rocky Horror Show, Beautiful: The Carole King Musical, and Moulin Rouge. In addition to his role as an Associate Lecturer in Music, Jazz, and Improvisation at the University of Melbourne, Carlo leads several groups, including the Carlo Barbaro Trio and the Carlo Barbaro Quartet.
Since 2023, Carlo has been a core member of Tim Finn’s band, performing in sell-out shows across Australia and New Zealand. He is also excited to be performing in Eulogy for a Genius: Celebrating Ray Charles.
Matt Poynter is a seasoned saxophonist and woodwind specialist with 30 years of professional experience performing both nationally and internationally. Known for his versatility, Matt excels across various styles and is a regular performer in jazz clubs, theaters, corporate events, and major venues. His formal studies at the University of Melbourne have honed his craft, particularly on the saxophone, clarinet, and flute.
In Melbourne, Matt is recognized for his ability to seamlessly navigate different genres, making him a sought-after performer for live engagements and studio sessions. His career includes performances on numerous albums, TV shows, radio broadcasts, and advertisements, supporting many of Australia’s top performers.
Beyond performing, Matt is a dedicated educator at Glen Waverley Secondary College, where he is known for his engaging teaching style and commitment to nurturing the next generation of musicians.
Pat Broadbent is a Melbourne-based music educator, composer, arranger, and accomplished trumpet player with a diverse career spanning various musical genres. He has performed in corporate cover bands, big bands, salsa groups, mariachi bands, and pit orchestras, and is the original trumpet player for the acclaimed show Eulogy for a Genius.
A graduate of the University of Melbourne with degrees in Teaching and Music, Pat has extensive experience in music education across both private and government schools. He currently serves as a brass teacher and Director of Senior Ensembles at St Helena Secondary College and Viewbank College, where he works closely with VCE Music Performance students, adapting and arranging music for their ensembles.
In addition to his teaching, Pat is a published composer with Brolga Music and continues to contribute to the music community. He balances his full-time career with performances and raising his four musically talented daughters, all of whom are brass players like their father.
Vincent grew up immersed in classic blues, jazz, and soul, with Ray Charles as a constant influence. His early performances included “Shaking a Tailfeather” and playing blues harmonica in Melbourne pubs and at Valhalla Cinema’s showings of The Blues Brothers. While studying voice and trumpet at Melbourne University’s Conservatorium of Music, Vincent embraced the worlds of jazz and folk, leading to performances on festival stages across Australia and as an expatriate in Hong Kong and Tokyo.
Adam began his music journey at six with a cornet before moving on to trombone, euphonium, and ultimately, the tuba. A graduate of Melbourne University with Honours in Music Performance, Adam spent eight years performing with the Royal Australian Navy Band. During this time, he also earned a Graduate Diploma in Education and a Licentiate in Music Performance from Trinity College London.
Adam has performed in a wide variety of ensembles, including orchestras, wind bands, big bands, brass bands, jazz combos, and pit orchestras, and has won state and national solo competitions. In addition to performing, he is a skilled composer, arranger, and conductor.
Now based in Melbourne, Adam teaches at Carey Grammar School, performs as a freelance musician, and leads “Funk Buddies,” a New Orleans-style street funk band.
Lorraine Salvador is a professional singer, songwriter, and arranger in Melbourne. She holds an Undergraduate Degree in Music (Jazz/Contemporary) from Monash University and has studied contemporary singing in Australia, Italy, and the United States. Over the past decade, Lorraine has arranged and directed choirs, including the Eden Gospel Singers. After a brief hiatus, she is currently working on releasing a new original project.
Teresa is a passionate singer and actor with a deep commitment to storytelling. She has refined her craft through studies at JMC Academy (Bachelor of Creative Arts: Acting), The Australian Institute of Music (Music Theatre), and Berklee College of Music (Jazz Voice). On stage, Teresa has captivated audiences in roles such as Juliet in Romeo & Juliet, Vanessa in In the Heights, and, most recently, Diana Morales in A Chorus Line. Dedicated to pushing the boundaries of her artistry, Teresa strives to create work that resonates with and represents the diverse communities around her.
Liana has had music in her bones since birth, growing up immersed in various lessons and activities that nurtured a deep love for performance. After a brief hiatus to explore a different career path, Liana has returned to the music world with renewed passion and vigour.
Performing has always been an integral part of their lives, and after feeling the void during their time away, Liana is thrilled to be back on stage. This project is particularly meaningful to them, as the music of Ray Charles holds a special place in their hearts. Sharing a love for Ray Charles’ music with their father from a young age, that connection resonates deeply with Liana today.
Melody is a passionate participant in community theatre, with credits including Oliver! (Aspect), The Wizard of Oz (Nova), All Together Now! (OSMAD), Les Miserables (MDMS), The Sound of Music (MDMS), and The Hunchback of Notre Dame (OSMAD). She is particularly excited to perform the songs of Ray Charles, as they bring back fond memories of childhood road trips.
By day, Melody works as a consultant Emergency Medicine doctor in a busy outer-urban Emergency Department.
Katelyn Marae is a Melbourne-born singer-songwriter with over 15 years of performance experience. Her career spans acoustic live entertainment, energetic gigs in Melbourne, and the Gold Coast’s vibrant nightlife. Trained with the Young Australian Broadway Chorus (YABC), Katelyn passionately explores a variety of genres in her original works. While her style is heavily influenced by legends like Ella Fitzgerald and Etta James, her current muses include Christina Aguilera and Billie Eilish.
Music is Kaukau Karauria’s true passion, offering solace in every moment, whether joyful or challenging. Trained by Australian jazz luminaries like Michelle Nicolle, Gian Slater, Julie O’Hara, and Emma Gilmartin, Cristina has graced prestigious venues such as Bennetts Lane Jazz Club, The Paris Cat, Melbourne Recital Centre, and the Politeama Teatro in Italy.
Her versatility as both a solo artist and a backing vocalist has made her a key contributor to various acclaimed projects. Currently expanding her musical journey, Tia is pursuing a double degree at Monash University, specializing in jazz and improvisation, and education. Alongside her studies, she continues to gig throughout Melbourne, teach, and prepare for her debut show in October this year.

His roles have included shows like Spamalot, Songs For A New World, West Side Story, Miss Saigon, Parade, Into The Woods, The Laramie Project, and The Hunchback of Notre Dame. Samuel has also been part of original works such as The Dark Web and Maple and Vine.

Abby Pemmelaar is a Naarm-based singer-songwriter with a deep passion for music and its transformative power. She studied a Bachelor of Music (Interactive Composition) at VCA, where she developed her original music project, Joone, and honed her songwriting and production skills. Abby has supported local acts, performed at community festivals, and is currently working on her debut single.
From a young age, Abby was captivated by vocal harmony, leading her to join and eventually lead community choir projects. These experiences ignited her interest in the therapeutic applications of music, inspiring her to pursue a Master of Music Therapy. Now a Registered Music Therapist, Abby uses a range of methods, including improvisation and songwriting, to support the health and well-being of her clients.
When she’s not creating or facilitating music, Abby enjoys crocheting, camping, and walking her dog.
Matthew Tomlin, a talented musical theatre performer from Launceston, Tasmania, has made a strong impression on Melbourne’s theatre scene with his versatile performances. He has starred in a range of productions, including standout roles in Kinky Boots, Strictly Ballroom, Les Misérables, and Miss Saigon. Most recently, Matthew captivated audiences with his powerful portrayal of Quasimodo in the Victorian premiere of The Hunchback of Notre Dame.
